The truffle is a precious mushroom that grows underground in symbiosis with the roots of a number of trees. Truffle is mostly found in southern France, Italy and Croatia. But for the best truffle you have to be in Italy! The white truffle is the most precious one you can find and you can also find it in Tuscany. In 2017 the price has risen to € 5000 per kg. No wonder that the truffle seekers among themselves always are mysteriously about whether they have found a truffle or not.

Truffle hunting

Truffle searching in Tuscany is an experience! You can experience this together with a truffle seeker, tartufaio, and his experienced dog. The dog is the most important element, it is trained to recognize the smell of truffles and to trace the truffle. To be successful it is very important that the dog feels at ease, it is a collaboration between the tartufaio and his dog. During the truffle hunt you will learn from the experienced truffle seeker all about the different types of truffles. You understand that every time when a truffle is found, it is a party. And yes ... you also have to be lucky.
