Taste the Val d'Orcia
During this wine tour, discover the Val d'Orcia south of Siena. This beautiful part of Tuscany has inspired many artists. Because of its unique beauty it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List! Two world-famous wines are produced on the rolling hills of this region: the Brunello di Montalcino and the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
Tuscany is characterized by a wide variety of wine regions that are very different in location, landscape and wine. Over the last few years, around thirty new wine cellars have been built with impressive architecture. This is the first in a series of tours with the title Cathedrals of Wine. In this tour we focus on the Val d'Orcia.
The beauty of travertine
The first and second day we will taste the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. We visit the architecturally exceptional wineries Icario, Cantine Dei and Salcheto. Of course we will also explore the town of Montepulciano. The third day is for the Brunello di Montalcino. We take the scenic route through the Val d'Orcia to Montalcino. There we will visit the winery of Podere le Ripi of the Illy family. We will explore the old center of Montalcino and finish at the winery Col di Lamo.
During the days the travel times are limited and everywhere we take the time so you can fully enjoy the Val d'Orcia with its architecture, landscape, delicious food and excellent wine!
